Meet the "Church Basement Ladies" with WALLA friends, February 27

WALLA is organizing a group event to attend the musical comedy, Church Basement Ladies, Saturday, February 27, 2:30 P.M. at Long Theater. A professional touring company will be performing and the main floor tickets are $27.00.

Plan to meet the group at MCL at noon for lunch before the play. Car-pooling from MCL to Long Theater will be available.

Pizza Party and Introduction of Spring Classes, February 18

Enjoy Arni's Pizza and Junior Salads while hearing details of the WALLA 2010 Spring classes. The Spring class session will be held March 22 to April 14.

The Pizza Party, sponsored by the Curriculum Committee, will be in the Morton Community Center's All-Purpose Room, Thursday, February 18 at 11:45 A.M. The cost for the lunch is $9.00 per person.

"Know Your Own Backyard" Bus Tour, Thursday, January 28

A local bus tour lead by Paula Woods will leave Morton Community Center, Thursday, January 28 at 9:00 A.M. The tour will visit:
  • Don Stein's Red Crown Mini-Museum
  • The Tippecanoe County Public Library and The Tippecanoe County Historical Association's Library to learn about resources for local and regional history
  • Adelino's, Downtown Lafayette's new restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine to enjoy the lunch buffet
  • Wolf Park in Battleground dedicated to research and education about wolves
The cost for the tour is $26.00 per person and includes lunch and entrance fees. Checks made out to WALLA should be sent to Paula Woods, 833 N. Chauncey Ave., West Lafayette, IN 47906.

Focus Group Planning Session, January 29

All interested WALLA attendees are invited to participate in a fun and lively planning session for future course offerings on Friday, January 29 from 9 A.M. until noon in Room 106 at the Morton Community Center.

The Focus Group Planning Session is sponsored by the WALLA Curriculum Committee. Bagels and beverages will be available.

Bring your ideas and suggestions for classes you would like to take or would consider coordinating.

WALLA Winter Get-A-Way, February 23-25, 2010


Please Note Date Changes for The WALLA Winter Get-A-Way


Join WALLA at the Spring Mill State Park Tuesday, February 23 to Thursday, February 25 for a relaxing three days of fun, food, and films featuring Marilyn Monroe!

Cost per person is $150 for a private room or $110 for a room for two with two double beds. The cost includes round-trip bus transportation and two nights in the Inn.

Meals at the Inn and at Jeeves & Co. in Scottsburg, IN on the way home are not included in the cost for the trip.

Payment and reservations are due by January 15, 2010. Reservation forms are available in the WALLA office.

Cancellations for full refund must be made by February 3, 2010.

The Bus for the Myers Dinner Theater Trip is full!!


The WALLA Annual Holiday Event will be a matinee performance of the comedy,
A Dickens of a Christmas with lunch at the Myers Dinner Theater in Hillsboro, Indiana on Wednesday, December 9.

The cost for the bus, lunch, and show is $48.00 per person.

The bus will leave Morton Center at 11:00 A.M. Park on the north end of the lot; bus pick-up in front of the building.

WALLA Box Lunches with Guest Speakers

This Fall's Box Lunches will be on Tuesday, October 27, 11:45 a.m. and Wednesday, November 4, 11:45 a.m in the Morton Community Center All-purpose Room.

The speaker for the October 27 Box Lunch is Dennis A. Savaiano, Purdue University Dean of the College of Consumer and Family Sciences (CFS) and Professor of Foods & Nutrition. He will speak about CFS: People, Possibilities, and Partnerships.

The speaker for the November 4 Box Lunch is Don Stein, local businessman and entrepreneur whose avocation is restoring antique automobiles. He will speak about Collecting Antique Automobiles.

The generously filled Box Lunches catered by Jane's Deli are $9.00 per person and must be ordered by the Thursday prior to each Box Lunch event. Check out the sandwich choices in the WALLA Fall 2009 Class Brochure (for a downloadable form, see CLASSES, page 14 on the website). Also there will be sign-up forms available during WALLA classes.
